Melissa was born and raised in a fairly conservative town, though she's fairly liberal as far as political, social and religious views go. Her parents have always been extremely loving and supportive of her, and therefore she has a very good relationship with both of her parents and tries her best to stay out of trouble for the sake of them. She (along with her family, of course) moved to Chicago during her early teenage years, which is how she came to attend Chicago Prime.
All-in-all, Melissa is extremely talkative and energetic, sometimes making her come off as a bit eccentric, especially to those who don't know her on any sort of a personal level. She can come across as being obsessive when it comes to things she has a lot of passion towards, though generally she is altogether unaware of what others think of her, and doesn't really care anyway.
